Sebastian Price

Tell us how skate culture inspired your love for streetwear and fashion.

It all started with wanting to own my own skateboard brand back in 9th grade. I’ve always been an illustrator, but there’s just something about designing clothes that really appealed to me. I would collect skateboard magazines and pull inspiration from the boards and shoes. I began to focus on what my favorite artists were wearing and one stood out – Pharrell Williams. He has opened the door for so many styles, spanning from Japanese streetwear to high-end fashion houses.

How did you learn how to sew?

After high school I went to technical college to learn how to sew and create patterns. I took what I learned back home and attempted to start my own streetwear brand. That didn’t pan out, but I kept making clothes and designing collections.

Tell us about your journey with Levi's.

I started as a stock associate at the Outlets of Castle Rock in 2016. Six years later, I’m now the first Levi’s® tailor in the state of Colorado. I never gave up on my passion, sewing in my basement and creating custom pieces for my family and coworkers whenever I had the time. My journey with Levi’s® allowed me to meet my wife, have my beautiful daughter Indigo, and continue perfecting my craft as a tailor.

Tell us about your love for thrifting? Has it inspired your style/craft?

It’s the hunt that drives me when I go thrifting. Finding an orange tab from the 80’s or a blanket-lined Trucker is the reason why I love it! Plus, it doesn’t matter the condition; the more trashed, the better, because then I get the chance to continue its journey. Repairing it with patches or mending – whatever I can do to make it my own.

Tell us about your upcoming launch for Levi’s® SecondHand?

The truckers I worked on all had a path and story that led them to where they are now. Some of them had huge tears, worn down collars, or random stains throughout the jacket. My approach was to simply enhance the uniqueness of each trucker and set it up to continue its adventure. Each piece is unique, featuring hand-sewn embroidery or the use of the boro philosophy, adding scraps of old denim to both reinforce, as well as set the trucker apart. Each jacket is ready to wear as-is, or ready to add-onto to continue its story.

Do you have a favorite repair story?

I had a customer bring in a vintage trucker that had been worn to shreds. He stopped wearing it many years ago but held onto it. When he learned about what we can do at the shop, he came back with his trucker and allowed me to work my magic to make it wearable again.

Favorite food? Favorite place to eat?

Nothing beats making it yourself and hitting the mark. I love to cook just as much as I love to eat! I grew up in a military family and have lived all over – England, Guam, Hawaii, Colorado. Moving every few years exposed me to so many different types of foods and styles of cooking, which is probably why I love it all. I do have to say though, Indian food slaps! I never clean my plate the way I do when enjoying Indian food.

What song do you currently have on repeat?

Another hard one…the same way I like to eat everything and try anything, the same goes for music. I can jump from Orville Peck, to Solange, to Justice, to Maxwell…I’m all over the map. If I had to pick just one that will always get cranked, it would be Sade - Cherish the Day.

Favorite place to escape to find some solitude to think?

Outside. I know it sounds cliché since I live in Colorado and we never stop telling people to get outside, but there’s a reason why. It’s beautiful here. Being outside is where I find my peace.
